I think P Chidambaram did not want the home ministry from the bottom of his heart. I remember him asking for the finance ministry. Can this be the reason for his slip-ups? Loss of motivation?
The deterioration in the effective control oh Home Ministry by Chidambaram may be as a result of too many pulls and pressures he is subjected to.It is also possible that a prposeful sabotage is being done by the pro Patil group.
Necessary that PC regains his grasp over the Ministry.Let him be ruthless to get things right.As I see it there is no one better suited in Congress to head the Ministry.
No yaar paresh, home ministry is a very important ministry, n some times more powerful than pm's. All spy chiefs report to him. He posseses secret files and reports of all the ministers including PM's n madam ji, depending on which he can use them against cabinet ministers and even pm's for arm twisting and get his things done.
no sane person will leave this ministry.
as mr. raman had said once. chidam has become indias security czar. more powerful than MMS.
Just like in chess, king has many restrictions, but queen is all powerful. It can go any steps it want, any direction it wants and if used intelligently can eliminate any one that can come in his way. In short Chidam has free hand on the chess board of Indian politics. He is all powerful.
He has always been a mediocre man in an absolute sense - of course, compared to other highly-corrupt congress-men he comes out as brilliant. For a lot of babus, such as the author of this blog, Congressman = God. Babus earlier carried the white man's burden (when British ruled), now the babus carry the corrupt Congress man's burden.
In this context, therefore, the author's tweets eulogizing PC are not a surprising phenomenon.
He has always been a mediocre man in an absolute sense - of course, compared to other highly-corrupt congress-men he comes out as brilliant.
