This close partnership between Pakistan and China is a cause for worry as we all appreciate. How to address this issue is a major strategic challenge.

Given this 'all-weather' friendship. I wonder if India should foresake Afghanistan and ensure a quick American withdrawl from the country, as it would take away the basic premise of the US-Pak relationship.

It would ensure US and India can unambigously come together and not worry about the P factor. In this strategic re-alignment, India's ties with Iran and Myanmar can be used as a policy tool.

This might be the reality anyways post 2014 when the Americans will withdraw from the region anyways. To make this possible, India should encourage the dialogue with Taliban and get ready for the backlash from militant groups...given the potential lack of targets...unless Tibet and Xinjiang regions flare up.
