In the past Civil Engineering was considered a lucrative career simply because other sectors were underdeveloped and starved of development by a socialism oriented government. Those days Rs 10,000 was a huge salary and being engineer meant being a mechanical or civil engineer. Today infrastructure companies are continuing to offer the same 10,000 while IT companies are ready to share a substantial portion of their income with their employees. If IT companies know that their people are their strength, it is not their mistake. It is not acceptable when someone says that in a nation of 1 billion there is shortage of civil engineers because many choose IT over civil.shaanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09595739596714119913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4704148890264843595.post-30813695643374409142010-09-29T01:41:20.919-07:002010-09-29T01:41:20.919-07:00Hi bookz!

Any engineer worth his salt would straight away refuse to build railway lines over the Karakoram. We have our own unstable railway in the Konkan. The maintenance bill is unbearable.<br /> This is how Chinese GDP has been growing for the last couple of years now. This is simply an attempt to offload excessive capacity.bookzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10498156790382629217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4704148890264843595.post-62132156971114334332010-09-28T08:06:05.718-07:002010-09-28T08:06:05.718-07:00UPA is too Pak focused. That and the fact that they have a thing for US makes our external affairs policy too defensive in our neighbourhood.<br /><br />This defensive posturing or reactive/inactive policy delivery is what causes our neighbouring countries to try to pitch India against China to get a better deal.<br /><br />The railway lines are a real cause for worry. Unfortunately instead of developing a proactive external policy this will become an even bigger reason for the UPA to go deeper into the arms of US and that would mean a lax policy towards Pakistan. UPA is not doing its job by taking the easiest route out.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11229539037507461254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4704148890264843595.post-37079906886087497862010-09-28T04:06:16.113-07:002010-09-28T04:06:16.113-07:00"The crash development of our own infrastruct..."The crash development of our own infrastructure and making it of a quality which would impress the countries of this region should receive immediate priority."<br /><br />The Common Wealth Games was an excellent opportunity to showcase just this.
